An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Stores Person to join a well established manufacturer based in the Vale of Glamorgan. You can expect to achieve a salary of £25,000 - £27,000.
This role would suit an individual who has a logistics background i.e. Material Controller, Logistics Controller, Stores Person, Goods In etc.

The Role
The Stores Inventory Representative facilitates the receipt, storing and distribution of materials and parts located in plant storerooms. He/she will work in conjunction with vendors and other departments in the plant to ensure the necessary inventory is available. Part of responsibilities will be to maintain files and records, work with the company's ERP system and prepare inventory reports when required.
Duties will include:

  • Monitoring and controlling inventory operations for plant storeroom.
    - Receiving materials; checking documentation and count; storing items in assigned location.
    - Starting the complaints procedure in case of non-conformances.
    - Researching replacement items when an item is being discontinued or is unavailable.
    - In collaboration with purchasing, contacting suppliers to track product delivery.
  • Verifying that pulled items and fulfilled order requisitions are accurate and timely. May be assembling kits used for production or other aspects of manufacturing, as needed.
  • Performing materials and parts inspections and managing inventory counts. Reordering materials to ensure established optimum inventory levels. Participating in inventory audits.
  • Maintaining JDE ERP system on a regular basis as materials and parts are received and disbursed ensuring proper item classification;
    - Updating item descriptions and price changes.
    - Managing stocks and orders to maintain the established stock level.
    - Codifying and describing new articles into the system
  • May lift heavy items and operate forklift, pallet handler and similar equipment.
  • Participating in scheduled safety meetings and completes safety training requirements.
  • Maintaining work area safe and clean. Working in a safe manner and supporting SH&E programs.

 

The Person

  • Tech savvy: good MS Office suite skills, experience working with inventory databases;
  • Customer service orientation and ability to prioritize multiple tasks;
  • Ability to use hand tools, operate material handling equipment;
  • Organizational skills in order to prioritize work;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team-based environment;
  • Ability to lift packages and heavy items;
  • Secondary education or equivalent;
  • 1-3 years of related work experience in a goods inwards/stores/purchasing environment.
